World Vision
One way to express gratitude for something is to pay it forward. World Vision is our way of showing our family how much we value what God has given to us. It also shows them that we value EVERY human being because we are ALL born in the image and likeness of God, not just a select few from our own neighborhood.
We were introduced to World Vision in the Spring of 2019 at a Mercy Me concert that we had the privilege of attending to celebrate a birthday. World Vision allows you to sponsor a child who cannot afford the privilege of attending concerts or simply celebrating a birthday. Sponsoring a child in another country is something that I have wanted to do for a long time and the pieces fell into place at the concert. When it came time to pick a child, I said a prayer and was inspired to let the Lord do the picking for us.
We sponsor Gnaro, a child in Ethiopia, about the same age as my own children and whom we have added to our prayer list. World Vision makes it easy to keep in touch with Gnaro by sending us various cards to send to her. The only downside is that we can't evangelize to her in our letters because the organizers of the program in Ethiopia are very respectful of their culture and so they are very sensitive about the content of the letters received. We don't want to rock the boat and risk others getting kicked out of the program so we're careful about what we write.
Won't you consider looking into sponsoring a child through World Vision or another organization? There are plenty of organizations out there like it. Go ahead. Pay it forward. How are you going to show God your gratitude?
